- Rental Listings: Photos, descriptions, item value, availability dates, and location ZIP codes.
- Booking Information: Start/end dates, item rented, rental cost, renter and rentee IDs.
- Insurance Data: Information shared with our insurance partners, including verified identity details, item metadata, and rental terms for coverage and claims.
- Payment Data: Handled entirely by third-party providers (e.g., Stripe). We do not collect or store full credit card or banking details.
- Communications: Messages between users, reviews, support requests, and system notifications.
- Device & Usage Data: IP address, browser type, device type, interaction logs, and session metadata.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Provide and manage your RentLokr account and listings
- Facilitate secure bookings and communications between users
- Verify identities to protect all parties involved
- Transmit rental data to insurance partners for policy generation and claims support
- Facilitate payments and deposits through our third-party payment provider
- Send transactional emails and notifications
- Analyze platform usage and improve our services
- Enforce our Terms of Use and prevent fraud or misuse
3. When We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share data as needed with:
- Identity Verification Providers: To verify user identities and protect against fraud
- Payment Providers: RentLokr does not process payments directly. Your payment information is securely handled by third-party providers (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) for transaction and refund processing.
- Insurance Partners: For the purpose of issuing temporary rental coverage and processing claims
- Service Providers: Who support hosting, analytics, or infrastructure (under contract)
- Legal Authorities: When required by law, subpoena, or to protect RentLokr’s rights
4. User Rights & Choices
You have the right to:
- Access and review your personal data
- Correct inaccuracies in your profile or account
- Delete your account and associated data (subject to rental history and legal retention)
- Withdraw consent from marketing communications at any time

We implement technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data, including:

6. Retention Policy

7. Insurance Information Disclosure
When insurance is requested for a rental, we will securely transmit relevant rental details, user identity data (e.g. verified name and address), and item metadata to our insurance partners. We do not make insurance decisions or store coverage policies ourselves. All policies are issued and underwritten by third-party providers.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our platform is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
9. International Transfers
If you are located outside the United States, please note that your data will be processed and stored in the U.S. using compliant cloud infrastructure.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or prominently displayed in the app.
